- This highly regarded manufacturing business with operations throughout the world has seen some significant growth here in the United Kingdom. With a number of sites in the region, they have a long and established history here in Greater Manchester.
Manufacturing high grade products for the defence, aerospace, food and beverage and packaging industries they have lead the way in innovation and technology. With significant investment in new machinery being made across the sites there is a need to increase the already successful Engineering team.
Being regarded by many as an employer of choice, they offer continuous improvement and training, in a friendly team orientated environment.
Duties
- To carry out routine servicing and inspection on all production machinery and mechanical systems and equipment.
- Use the preventative maintenance system to reduce breakdowns and unplanned maintenance.
- Carry out essential legislative testing of mechanical equipment and systems.
- Working safely within the company’s Health and Safety Procedures.
- To identify and keep essential stock items at necessary working levels.
- To assist the General Manager in identifying process improvements through elimination of downtime and other continuous improvement initiatives (CIP Process).
- To assist the Group Engineering Manager with projects and developments.
- To manage the Group Engineering Team.
- Liaise when necessary with external contractors.
Skills
- To have a flexible approach towards overtime, shutdown working and call-out cover as required.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- To work as part of a team to optimise company performance and achieve targets.
- To co-operate with the organisation in respect of training needs and job development to meet production demands.
- Previous experience of managing a team.
- Previous experience of manufacturing machinery, preferably textiles.
- Full driving licence and use of a car for occasional travel between locations.
- A recognised, relevant trade apprenticeship with at least 3years experience within a similar role are essential.
