- An exciting opportunity has arisen within a niche and growing market for a Loom Technician. Our Client, a well-established manufacturing Company based in the Greater Manchester area.
Summary of role:
To maintain machines in good mechanical order, ensuring that machine settings are adhered to, to produce fabric to the customer specifications.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
•To repair loom malfunctions as reported by the weaver.
•To check and repair machinery thus providing preventative maintenance.
•To ensure correct weaving settings are carried out for specific qualities of fabric.
•To provide and check a first cut sample, record the construction of the fabric at the start of the new warp.
•Ensure that corrective action reports are followed up and any action taken is recorded.
•To report any re-ordering of stock as required to the stores person.
•To ensure that PTFE warp is checked properly for hairy ends.
•To check for hairy ends after every PTFE cut is removed.
•To check that the correct weft is being used at the start of a new warp.
•To complete loom check out sheets.
•To keep designated sets clean and tidy.
Key Skills and abilities:
•Experience in weaving essential
•Mechanical aptitude
•Literate/Numerate
•Methodical in approach
