- My client a well-known drainage engineering company is looking to recruit an Operations Manager who will be based in around St Neots.
The Operations Manager will be responsible for the management of the operating division who provide a full range of drainage services to domestic and commercial clients.
You will be responsible for the planning and organisation of the engineer response team activities, ensuring your team have the correct equipment and information to complete all works safely and efficiently and ensuring that work is completed within the required timescale.
A good knowledge of Drainage, Tankers, QS, Construction, Civil Engineering or waste industry is a distinct advantage.
The Role:
- Performance management and development of all Field Team and Supply Chain resources to ensure both quality and quantity at maximum efficiency
- Lead best practice, ensuring a common understanding of all Operational procedures and expected behaviours across field force using reports generated by the central performance team
- Initiating and leading the implementation of continuous improvements within company processes and field activities to improve customer service and all-round performance
- Manage and control costs against budget for all Field teams
- Agree to weekly/monthly field availability and work composition with Planning Manager.
- Manage overall resource / vehicle profile issues to ensure effective delivery of services in region
- Actively own high level / escalated customer service complaints of performance in the field and ensure resolution through direct action, improvement plans or escalated risk process.
- Leads delivery of, and actively champions Health and Safety compliance by ALL field staff (i.e. procedural, vehicle, site) liaising with HSEQ Manager and ensuring appropriate utilisation of central Safeguard reporting system
- Possess excellent Leadership skills and drive to implement and maintain a robust performance management regime in line with contractual and business needs.
- Have the ability to project a clear sense of purpose and direction to team
- Have the ability to direct work through others, sending a clear message about what is required and holding people accountable for meeting objective, whilst 'leading by example’ on site
- Be able to Identify and solve operational / business issues in a timely and effective manner to ensure customer satisfaction and business improvement
- Help others to develop their performance and capability through coaching and feedback in conjunction with Training Coordinator
- Creating and sustaining effective working relationships with Engineers, Supply chain, TW Management, Planning Manager etc.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- A good knowledge of Excel for the use of spreadsheets for forecasting and analysing performance
- Work co-operatively with internal and external clients / customers.
- Have the ability to identify innovative approaches to resolving operational problems
- Customer service orientation and proactive business approach
- Good knowledge of Health and Safety
- Good knowledge of company Quality systems
- Good knowledge of KPI measures to a high level to ensure compliance with targets.
