An exciting opportunity has arisen within a niche and growing market for a Rubber Technician/Technologist
Our client, a long-established Manufacturing Company based in Manchester specialises in the supply of rubber compounds and rubber-coated fabrics.
Summary of Role:
TheRubber Technician/Technologist will carry out compounding product and process development activities to satisfy company and customer objectives.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Work with customers/potential customers to develop products and processes which reflect their requirements.
Visit customers where applicable to assist with technical support or complaint investigation and resolution.
Produce accurate product costings and liaise with Sales to quote customers.
Ensure the business is aware and are capable of all stated requirements at the enquiry stage and if not communicate any potential issues internally and to the customer.
Issue experimental / temporary manufacturing instructions and maintain records of all trials and work undertaken in accordance with retention periods.
Produce, issue and monitor recipe cards and production instructions for all Compounds produced internally.
Identify and develop potential new products to complement and expand the company’s product portfolio.
Assess the feasibility and economic viability of new product manufacture.
Evaluate alternative raw materials or work processes to ensure the products are competitive in the market.
Test and co-ordinate trials of new products and processes which become available, keeping up to date with marketplace developments.
Provide information for Technical Data Sheets, MSDS documentation, specifications and other technical literature for new products.
Keep up to date and aware of competition and evaluate competitor products.
Investigate and identify root cause of any internal and external non-conformances and complaints and work with relevant departments to avoid re-occurrence.
Provide technical support and advice to customers and internal staff regarding the wide variety of rubber compounds available.
Provide cover for the Compounding Laboratory as and when required.
Ensure compliance with the company Quality Management System,Health & Safety and Environmental guidelines, policies and regulations.
Other additional duties appropriate to the role as directed by the line manager or General Manager.
Maintain a clean and tidy work area.
