National Apprenticeship Week - Build your Future!
“Skills for Life” is this year’s theme for National Apprenticeship Week 2024.
It aims to celebrate and promote the amazing benefits which apprenticeships offer for learners and employers.
Apprenticeships offer people of all ages the chance to earn while they learn, while building a successful career. It helps them to develop their knowledge and hands on skills to equip them for the future in the working environment, whilst also enabling them to gain a rewarding career in their chosen field.
This week each year is celebrated to bring together businesses and apprentices to show the positive impact apprenticeships / trainee roles not only have on the individual but also to businesses and the economy.
Back in 2015 this was recognized by the Water Industry, and although the roles offered were not Apprenticeships, they were Trainee roles with the same concept.
This was to attract new candidates into the industry, people without any previous experience, offering them full training and industry recognized qualifications, earning while they learn.
Finlay Jude have placed many candidates into Trainee roles over the last 6 years, with roughly 600 of these candidates becoming fully qualified Leakage Technicians, Network Technicians, and some have even gone on to work in supervisory roles.
The roles offered usually start as a Trainee Leakage Technician or Assistant Leakage Technicians, then the opportunity to progress is in their hands, some can even fully qualify in as little as six months.
Research has shown that almost one in four people were so concerned about the effects of the pandemic on their future career that they chose a new career path, and Apprenticeships/ Trainee roles were the route they then decided to take, with half of apprenticeship starters in the UK in the last few years aged 25 and over.
