World Environmental Day - Saving Water
This weekend we celebrate World Environment Day, celebrated on June 5th each year to raise awareness on the importance of protecting our environment.

Here are just a few ways we can help our environment:

Do not buy single use plastic – use a reusable bottle / flask – prevent plastic in our oceans.
Re-Use / Recycle – avoid waste where you can.
Reduce your carbon footprint – ditch the car for short journeys, walk instead or cycle, reducing air pollution.
Shorter showers – reduce your shower by 2 mins can help to save water.

Finlay Jude recruit Leakage Technicians for the Water Industry, and their role plays an important part in helping to reduce leakage, keep our Clean Water running and save gallons of water, to support our environment.

The Water Industry have been set a target to reduce leakage by 16% between the year 2020-2025.

Reducing leakage is an important part in ensuring future resilience in our water supplies but also helps to reduce the stress on the environment by reducing the volume of water that needs to be abstracted from our rivers, streams, or canals.

Although enormous progress has been made in the reduction of leaks, the Water Industry is committed to doing much more. Using new and innovative technology such as smart sensors, satellite technology and drones, all play a part in the plan to detect and fix leaks faster and at a lower cost.

The hope is to reduce leakage by 50% by the year 2050.

“We never know the worth of water until the well is dry.” – Thomas Fuller

So, while our Leakage Technicians are working hard daily to help the environment, we can all make sure we do our bit as well.

Let us nurture our nature, so we can have a better future!!
